Reach for the sky...

         John Perkins was born in New Orleans, La. on September 28, 1990. He wasn't introduced to the trumpet until he was 13 but he quickly caught on. His skills were nurtured at Thurgood Marshall Middle School and McDonogh 35 Senior High School. The marching bands at these schools were a great avenue for John to begin journey as a musician, but while in High school John wanted to take his abilities to the next level.

        John received a call about getting in a brass band and quickly jumped on the opportunity. While playing brass band music with various brass band around the city he also studied music at the University of New Orleans. He earned his degree in music on May 15,2015. John still plays music and gives beginner/intermediate trumpet lessons.
